Return to Play
Juniors only will start on Monday 26th April at Leigh Miners
Adults will start on Wednesday 19th May
Latest News from Mill
I've been told by leigh Spinners that the earliest we will be able to return is July all being well, this once again has been put back, we will be unable to feature the Mill in our return to play plans. This leaves the club with only the Leigh Miners as an option with Monday and Wednesday being available. I will be in touch with them shortly to finalise things for us to start training there on May 17th. I have no option but to put the same booking system in place which was successful in Sept/Oct 20.
I will keep you updated.
After the governments latest announcements it looks likely that we could finally be returning to the table.
I've read the governments and TTE's latest updates and May 17th looks set for the return, hopefully the Mill's fire escape will be completed ( fingers crossed ) and the Miners doors will open on that day so a return looks likely either way. Both Adults and Juniors can return but in limited numbers and Covid 19 restrictions / rules will still be in place.
I will keep you all informed about the return / booking / venues etc.
Thanks it's been too long but there's light at the end of the tunnel.
Cheers Chris

Latest Update ...... Message from Jo Platt

17th February 2021 .... Dear Tenants

I hope you are all keeping safe and well.

Please note that the lift in the mill is out of order and will be until further notice.

Whilst works are ongoing, health and safety on site is important. Due to ongoing building works and prior to our previous request, if anyone is visiting the mill, please let me or another board member know in advance.

Fire staircase works

We have finished stage 1 - cutting out of the floors. Stage 2 - construction of the staircase - is now being scheduled to take place. We will endeavor to update you all as soon as we have any further information on completion and future discussions with the fire service and building control.

Covid Restrictions

We await further advice on current restrictions and will update everyone as soon as we can.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further help or advice.

6th January 2021 .... Work has begun on some elements of the staircase and I hope to have a works plan shortly.

Obviously, with the current lockdown situation, there is no table tennis at the club or across the country

hopefully, we finally come out of this mess around Easter which should coincide with the re-opening of the mill. Stay safe can't wait for the normality to return so we all can enjoy our wonderful sport.

9th December 2020 .... Work has begun on the disabled toilets on the second floor near our match rooms and the fire escape has received planning, work will start once the fire brigade has rubber-stamped it. So Easter for a return to the mill is looking good. I will keep you informed when I hear any news. All the best have a great Christmas and let's hope the New Year is full of table tennis joy.

1st November 2020 .... Work has not yet begun on the fire escape due to planning complications, we hope it will go ahead soon and work will be finished early in the new year so we are hopefully targeting 1st March for a return.

14th March 2020 .... The LSG TT Club has recently been advised that the Leigh Spinners Mill has received a notification to state that certain sections of the Mill can reopen to the general public.
We are of the understanding that there are certain units on the second & third floor that will be allowed to reopen to accommodate users whose units meet the Fire Safety parameters. Unfortunately, our unit on the second floor does NOT comply with the necessary Fire Safety Regulations and will remain closed for the foreseeable future. All units on the fourth & fifth floor will remain closed.

In order for our members to understand and appreciate the seriousness of the situation, we are advised that the work required to meet the required Fire Standards for our unit will take months rather than weeks to complete, with no completion date stated.
It is with sadness that we make this brief report to all our members both young and old alike, but this is the current status at the Mill as we understand it.
We will endeavor to keep all members in the loop on the club website should any further developments change from the current position. For member's information, we are currently in the process of attempting to source temporary premises in order to provide members with practice facilities.

With our organisation's mission always in mind, we strive to allow everyone to take part in table tennis. Our popular Bat and Chat for over 50's which started in 2013 has been a great success so we've decided to add a Parent and Child session to allow people to come down and enjoy fun table tennis.

We began our journey in 2012 when we joined the Wigan and District TT League. Since 2012 we've grown considerably and now have two outstanding venues.
Leigh Miners Welfare hosts our Wigan League and Leigh Summer League match nights and the new training academy at Leigh Spinners Mill has an outstanding purpose built training room with two adjoining full size match rooms and more. These are exciting times for everyone involved at LSG.
