Dear Tenants

Firstly, can I apologise for the delay in the works update but as you can imagine, there has been a lot of work ongoing at the moment.

Currently, we have contractors, Rothwell Builders, that have been mainly concentrating on the rear corridors on floors 2 and 3.

The scope of works for the walls around the new fire staircase were due to start July. Unfortunately, the week before works were to start, the contractor appointed, Stanley Black and Decker, pulled out! This was due to the cost of materials. They re-quoted with a revised timeline of works in 8-10 weeks. As you will be more than aware, this was unacceptable and has left us with no choice but to look elsewhere. Fortunately, due to the speed and level of workmanship shown by current contractors Rothwells, they have agreed to do the staircase works once they have finished on floor 3.

This has obviously meant that the timeline scheduled for completion at the end of July / beginning of August is no longer achievable and until I get a firm schedule of timings from Rothwells, I am unable to pass over this information. Please rest assured that as soon as I have this information I will forward on accordingly. Please note, that I am in constant conversation with the fire authority and building control regarding this and other associated works in order for us to fully open.

As floors 2 and 3 are in construction, could I please remind tenants that if they need to go into the mill, at any point, to contact me in order to gain access.

As always, if anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Jo Platt

Latest News from Mill
I've been told by leigh Spinners that the earliest we will be able to return is July all being well, this once again has been put back, we will be unable to feature the Mill in our return to play plans. This leaves the club with only the Leigh Miners as an option with Monday and Wednesday being available. I will be in touch with them shortly to finalise things for us to start training there on May 17th. I have no option but to put the same booking system in place which was successful in Sept/Oct 20.
After the governments latest announcements it looks likely that we could finally be returning to the table.
I've read the governments and TTE's latest updates and May 17th looks set for the return, hopefully the Mill's fire escape will be completed ( fingers crossed ) and the Miners doors will open on that day so a return looks likely either way. Both Adults and Juniors can return but in limited numbers and Covid 19 restrictions / rules will still be in place.
I will keep you all informed about the return / booking / venues etc.
Thanks it's been too long but there's light at the end of the tunnel.

With our organisation's mission always in mind, we strive to allow everyone to take part in table tennis. Our popular Bat and Chat for over 50's which started in 2013 has been a great success so we've decided to add a Parent and Child session to allow people to come down and enjoy fun table tennis.

We began our journey in 2012 when we joined the Wigan and District TT League. Since 2012 we've grown considerably and now have two outstanding venues.
Leigh Miners Welfare hosts our Wigan League and Leigh Summer League match nights and the new training academy at Leigh Spinners Mill has an outstanding purpose built training room with two adjoining full size match rooms and more. These are exciting times for everyone involved at LSG.
